October 2021.

We had been working on this trip for over 3 and a half years.

We have had the Churchill area on our radar for many years but it wasn't until we found a link to Churchill Wild on National Geographic's "Unique Lodges of the World" that we put the wheels in motion.

In the summer of 2018 we put our names on a waiting list hoping to maybe squeeze in to that year's fall trip after our North West Passage attempt (see that tab above) or failing that, the 2019 trip, but no way.

February 2019 as soon as Churchill Wild opened for reservations for 2020 we were among the first to book.

In late 2019 Covid began to rear it's ugly head and by early 2020 it was changing the world forever and Churchill Wild had to shut down all operations for that year.

With Covid still very much affecting travel in late 2020 we waited, not without considerable trepidation, for word from Churchill Wild.

In late August we got it - It's a Go.

We met up with the other 10 members of our group in Winnipeg and flew from there to Churchill 2000 kms north on the shore of Hudson Bay. From there we split into 2 groups and flew on 9 seater bush planes to Seal River Heritage Lodge 100 kms further north. Four days later the bush planes took us to Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge about 200 kms south of Churchill for the next 4 days.

Here are some photos of our days at those lodges. If you scroll down to the end of the photos there is a short video.
